About

I graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute and and began my career working for a company specialising in large-scale commercial commissions for international companies such as Halliburton and Grand Metropolitan. While there, I designed a number of restaurants and bars in the city-centre of Moscow as well as some private houses and apartments.

In 1998, myself and my husband decided to move to Dublin where we now live with our two children. Having always wanted to move away from commercial work towards more client-focused projects, I now specialise in residential architecture, custom-tailored interiors, and garden design. I particularly enjoy working on projects requiring modern extensions to period homes, interiors of restaurants, bars and small-scale retail fit outs.

Good design does not have to be unaffordable. Bespoke furniture and interior elements can be delivered at cost-effective prices through the combination of innovative, efficient design and intimate knowledge of the manufacturing process. Similarly, no project is too small. I relish the challenge of problem-solving within small houses and apartments where most of the features have to be very carefully considered in order to maximise living space.

My practice relies heavily on client interaction in order to ensure that decisions are informed by your needs, your routines and your habits. Through understanding how a person thinks, a home can become an extension of those living within it. This in turn results in not only beautiful but also highly functional spaces.

OUR SERVICES

We adhere to stages of work outlined by the RIAI, providing a full architectural service which can be commissioned in full or in part, including:

INITIAL CONSULTATION AND DESIGN

Our initial discussions will establish your ambitions, aesthetics and priorities. This includes practical considerations such as planning restrictions and costs. I will work closely with you to develop your ideas and aspirations.

PLANNING PERMISSION AND APPROVALS

I have extensive experience working with Protected Structures, Conservation Areas, and in implementing modern design in these potentially sensitive locations. I can advise not only on what design best suits your needs, but also the likely planning implications. Moreover, not all projects require planning permission. Clever design coupled with knowledge of planning legislation can save time and money.

TENDER DOCUMENTATION

I will prepare very detailed drawings and documents for pricing by a contractor. I believe this is one of the most important stages of any project. I will also advise on the best form of procurement and contract. Detailed, accurate and legible documentation can greatly reduce uncertainty in pricing and thus unexpected costs during construction. My experience will ensure that I deliver your project on budget, built to last, as well as fulfilling your aesthetic needs. There are also alternatives to tendering which may have time and cost advantages and I can advise you on these if appropriate.

CONSTRUCTION AND ON-SITE CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION

I will administer the contract during construction to ensure that the designs are properly translated into the final building. There are always unexpected events during construction and knowing how to deal with these personably as well as contractually is key to a safe, enjoyable and successful project.

CONSULTANTS

Throughout the project you may require the input of other consultants such as structural engineers, planning consultants, lighting consultants, and quantity surveyors. I have extensive experience working with many consultants and can advise you when and if these are required.

INTERIOR DESIGN

I will prepare kitchen layouts, colour schemes and lighting layouts as well as very detailed bathroom designs. I can design– in detail– kitchens, built-in storage units and bespoke furniture while ensuring that these are made in a cost effective way. I value craftsmanship and the honesty of handmade goods. When you get to know the manufacturing process, the cost of production could be reduced significantly while also adding unique and lasting elements to your home.

GARDEN DESIGN

A couple of years ago I went to Japan to learn about Japanese garden design. That trip is a strong source of inspiration for me. I love finishing a project by designing an outdoor space that complements the architecture. I provide hard landscaping plans and details and work in collaboration with experienced and tasteful gardeners in providing planting schemes.

Apartment for the young professionals

An old fashioned townhouse with four cramped bedrooms - none big enough to accommodate a double bed - had to be transformed into a house that suited a young, professional couple.

The original configuration left the property starved of light so the re-design saw us open up the rooms and redraw the space to include one spacious study/guest bedroom as well as brighter living spaces.

The result is a spacious and modern home, perfectly suited to the needs of a stylish couple. The interiors are full of bright colours to reflect the personality and mindset of its inhabitants.
